STPK upholds our position: CKI Odense is not exempt from the requirement to offer a first appointment within 30 days. Capacity challenges are not a valid excuse.
The Lucy S Fund for Transgender Rights provided legal support to a patient complaint. The complaint has now been upheld in full. In our complaint, we detailed how patients at CKI Odense were forced to wait far beyond 30 days for their first appointment at CKI Odense in violation of the Health Act. CKI Odense submitted that they were under capacity problems and that Gender Identity is a highly specialised area of medicine. STPK dismissed these arguments and ruled in our favour.
Our belief is that given the present circumstances, this decision should set a precedent across all CKIs in Denmark. We are continuing our work to demonstrate the systemic nature of this breach of the law and force systemic change through legal action.
STPK have published the complaint on their website (in Danish): https://www.stpk.dk/afgorelser-og-domme/afgorelser-fra-styrelsen-for-patientklager/26sfp02/
